I grow increasingly more cynical about the ability of the folks in Washington, D.C. to accomplish anything meaningful. It seems as if our elected representatives are so entrenched in their personal missions to "get mine" and to grab power that none of them are representing the people of America in integirty and honor.
Thomas Jefferson said, "Every generation needs a new revolution."
I think we have gone so far down the road of corruption in our federal government that it is no longer salvageable through the democratic process our founding fathers envisioned.
An armed revolution in this country is not feasible or desired, but what of an unarmed revolution, a revolution by vote? What do you think the outcome might be if a goodly portion of eligible voters used the power of the ballot box to toss out ALL incumbents, of both parties? What would happen if the Washington elite were sent home, in mass; all it's career Senators and Representatives, all it's power brokers, all incumbent Democrats and Republicans?
35 Senate seats and all 435 House seats are up for election this year. Can you imagine the excitement of seeing a large number of incumbents sent home? Can you imagine a House with numerous positions newly seated? It would be just like the first Congress and what a "wake up" call to those left in position!!
Just once, can you imagine Libertarians and Constitutionalists being elected to seats unopposed by one of the major parties. Can you imagine a Congress filled with Americans who care more about the nation than their own pockets; a multi-party Congress where everyone had to work together to achieve legislation?
Do you think then we might get some folks working for us instead of for themselves?
Just say ,"NO!" to incumbents in 2008!

Would you imagine an America where we all refer to ourselves as "American" and act like we mean it?
Imagine, if you will, an America where we do not allow the government to categorize us by color or nationality; that is what they do, separate and categorize us for their purposes, not for our benefit as a society.
Try to imagine an America where the sponsors of racial separation, the Jesses, the Als and the Janets, could not make a living from racial separation and categorization, seeking "special" treatment for "their" people.
No african-Americans, no asian-Americans, no mexican-Americans, no this-American or that-American, just Americans.
I challenge you, when next you get a chance to check the "race" box on one of the multitude of government forms, check "no thanks".

McDonald's: Christian boycotters 'hate' homosexuals
"Those who oppose homosexuality for religious reasons are participating in "hate," according to an official for McDonald's, the worldwide purveyor of Big Macs and Happy Meals"
I encourage you to "hate" spending money at McDonald's!
I would like to make clear one important point. I do NOT hate homosexuals. A person who indulges in the sin of homosexual activity is God's creation, just as I am and just as you are. Each of us is created in His image.
I believe that the Bible makes very clear those things that God hates and I believe that the Bible is God's Word to man; His playbook for our lives. The truth and the reality of His Word does not hinge on whether or not someone believes the Bible to be true; it just is.
I am a glutton, live a fleshly and slothful life, and have anger and pride issues that serve to give me more than enough room for personal correction. I am just as great a sinner as any homosexual, pedophile, adulterer, thief, liar, or murderer. Sin is sin; there are no shades of gray in these matters.
A homosexual man or woman, by choice, engages in unnatural sexual activity; unnatural according to God's standard and unnatural according to design and purpose. It is not about love, it is all about sex. There is nothing wrong or unnatural about the love a man might feel for a man or a woman for a woman. The natural becomes unnatural when the clothes come off and two persons of the same gender indulge their fleshly lust with sexual activity. Sexual immorality, be it homosexuality, bestialty, adultery, incest, or any sex outside of the marriage bed defies God's desire and order for man.
You will find that I make note of the cultural issues of homosexuality and abortion more often than other topics because these issues have become political issues, are in our face daily and I believe that we have a duty to take a stand for righteousness in the political arena. We must make our voices heard by the representatives that we have elected and we must not give in either to the small percent of the population that indulges in these behaviors or to the minority that approves of or financially supports them, be they corporate, civic or personal.
Let the businesses that promote and support sexual immorality hear from you.
It's not supposed to be about me or you, it's supposed to be about God.

At dinner tonight I was made aware of a new teen hearthrob who exists between the pages of a novel, in the minds and hearts of young girls and soon to be eliciting flutters from the silver screen.
The subject of a not insignificant amount of screaching and swooning is a character named Edward Cullen. Entertainment Weekly states, "Pretty but awkward 17-year-old Bella (Kristen Stewart) moves to a small town in the Pacific Northwest and falls in love with Edward (Robert Pattinson), a heartbreakingly beautiful vampire. Edward also falls for Bella, but his desire for her barely controls his instinct to devour her. It's this combination of passion and danger, of course, that surrounds this teen romance with a halo of epic, doomed love. " "As for the character of Edward, Meyer describes him as ''devastatingly inhumanly beautiful.'' Not surprisingly, he has become a heartthrob to millions."
Judging from my daughter's reaction to the mere mention of his name and the fact that this new "hero" is a vampire prompted me to make the decision to read one of the three novels and to toss out this "heads up". I generally try to contain myself and not scream "fire" without first investigating the source of the smoke, but I am aware that there is a genre of teen literature out there that, much like the adult romance novels that cater to wistfull women, borders on pornography and most definitely bends and shapes impressionable minds.
My daughter tells me that the local library stocks this book, so I'll head over tomorrow and see if I can get a copy in my hands for evaluation. In the meantime, you might want to check your teen's bookshelves at home.
Stephanie Meyer, the author of this (currently three part) saga, moving into the adult stream with her recent novel "Host", is apparently going to make her mark in the world, like Rowling and Rice, sensationalizing the darker recesses of the human mind and the lustful aspects of the supernatural realm.

Before you pull the ballot lever for a national Democrat candidate in November, I ask you to consider the results of your actions.
If you vote FOR a Democrat candidate for Congress or President, and that person is elected, your vote will most certainly result in the support of legislation that kills babies, promotes immorality, raises taxes and grows government.
Your Democrat candidate will promote the growth of the welfare state and do everything in his or her official capacity to remove any traces of personal responsibility from our culture and system of laws.
Your Democrat candidate believes that the he (the government) knows best and that you do not have the capacity to make intelligent, responsible decisions for your family and for the upbringing of your children.
Your Democrat candidate believes that laws of other nations should supersede the Constitution of these United States of America.
Your Democrat candidate believes that you should not have the legal authority and capacity to defend yourself in times of trouble.

Tonight I was driving across the Wal-Mart parking lot where, upon coming to a stop sign, I came to a full stop. Another driver, approaching the intersection on my left, also came to a complete stop. He did not have a stop sign on his side. I waved him through, considering that he did have the right of way; he waved at me, I waved at him, and then he proceeded through the intersection, turning left, in front of me.
I followed him to the next stop sign, where, you might have guessed, he failed to stop and just blew through! I was behind him through another intersection where he proceeded normally, until we came to the next intersection where, having a green light he stopped. He remained stopped until the light turned yellow, whereupon he proceeded through the intersection.

It is ironic that in these United States of America, a country founded on principles of religious freedom, that the system of government in place over us moves around the circle toward becoming as oppressive as the monarchy the Pilgrims fled seeking freedom from persecution for their religious beliefs.

Some of us celebrate with passion and remembrance of prices paid for that precious freedom. When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

The time to pray for them is now.
